Knowledge is one of the best investments in the world simply because it does not expire. The thirst for knowledge has been part and parcel of the human race for as long as it has been in existence; and as each day passes and the world’s dynamics change, there is need to know more and more about every subject. That is why we went to school; we had to gain some knowledge which would translate to skills needed to live in the kind of world we have today. Now, we want our children to go to the best schools to get the best but the education system has an anticlimax that has been met by one too many people; it is damn expensive to further your education. In fact, the higher you go the more expensive it is to learn. Not all education systems have the best facilities and many opt to go abroad to study, which is not for all and sundry since it is also expensive to study away from home.
The lack of funds to cover your tuition and upkeep should not give you sleepless nights; all these can be solved by college scholarships and grants. A scholarship is given by institutions of higher learning, corporate individuals as part of their corporate social responsibility and individual persons alike. A scholarship is not any different in context from a grant. The only difference is the source of the money. Grants come from governments and scholarships come from learning institutions, corporate, individual persons and any other sources.
The procedure to getting a grant starts with application for further study in a college of choice depending on the course you want to pursue. With the internet, it takes a few minutes to find out more than enough details on a college abroad or locally. The facilities that colleges have in America are not rivaled and that is why many foreign students go to American colleges. Depending on the academic performance of the aspirant in their former academic institution, their application may be accepted or rejected. If successful, the applicant is required to fulfill all the foreign student formalities required if the college is abroad. After that, the student may apply for the scholarship in the college and if they are successful they are required to maintain a standard of academic performance or lose this scholarship. The same applies for a grant.
