Medical Grants News: May 2010 Summary

To give you an idea of what kind of medical grants are available this is a chronicle of some of the recent grants that have been awarded. This information is accurate as of May 29, 2010.

May 24, 2010-Medical Device Grants Approval Announced

It was reported on this date that as of a few days prior the Department of Treasury released guidelines pertaining to equipment for certain qualifying therapeutic tax credits. Applications will be accepted for this type of grant as of June 21, 2010.

Devices qualify for this grant based on two main criteria: 1.) It is used to diagnose a disease or condition 2.) It helps promote execution of certain therapeutic processes.

May 26, 2010-Florida International University Receives Howard Hughes Grant

It was reported on this date that the Florida International University received a $1 million dollar grant from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. The main purpose of this grant is to help promote the continuance of physics teaching, and to expand curriculum in this area. One main goal is to implement further hands-on scientific training.

May 28, 2010-Physical Therapy Study Grants to be Awarded

The deadline for this award is rapidly approaching. Applicants wanting to participate in qualifying one to two year research projects under the direction of licensed physical therapists can receive up to $40,000. Deadline for this is August 18th, 2010. Awards will be issued this coming December (2010).
