Private Grants

Not all grants are issued or backed by the government. In many instances, grants to individuals may be sponsored by a particular organization, institute, or think tank - and will be designed to encourage further progress in a particular area.

These days, thousands of private grants exist for a wide variety of reasons. You would be surprised as to what types of things you can receive grants for. As a quick example - a few of the most recent grants to be added to the private grant list include a $10,000 grant for a research study on the velocity of money, and a $2,000 grant for an essay on the benefits of social media in the 21st century.

Regardless of which area you work in or what industry your business participates in - a private cash grant could be on the cards if you are willing to take the time to submit an application.

Finding Applicable Private Grants

One of the hardest things in the private grant process is often finding the right private grant to apply for. With such an incredible range of grants available - people often have difficulty narrowing down their search and deciding upon just one or two grants that they are likely to succeed with.

Remember - most organisations who are issuing grants won't allow you to get a grant if you have already had one from a different organisation in the past. Hence - you need to choose which ones you apply for - carefully.

Submitting a Successful Application

Because of the availability of online private grants these days - competition for each grant is often high. However, this certainly doesn't mean that you have a low chance of success.

A recent survey proposed that but a serious applicant who persistently applies for relevant cash grants, they will be successful about 20 percent of the time. That means that for someone who submits 5 decent, well thought out proposals, the chances of success in winning the award are 20%.

Factors which affect whether or not you are awarded the grant include:

  • Age and degree of knowledge.
  • How likely you are to put the money to good use.
  • How relevant the proposal is to the targeted reason for the grant.

All going well, you should be well on your way to succeeding in your private grant application if you think the process though, and apply logical processes along the way.
